Religious Democracy Whose Time Has Come

March 8, 2007

BELLFLOWER, Calif., Mar. 6 /Christian Newswire/ — Ambassadors For Peace will be hosting internationally-known journalist and speaker, Omran Salman, at 7 PM on March 14th in Bellflower, California. Originally from Bahrain, Omran Salman currently directs the Arab Reformist Project (AAFAQ, which is Arabic for “horizons”) and has published hundreds of articles on Middle Eastern issues in a variety of Arab publications.

Omran Salman recently participated in a conference about Dissent and Reform in The Arab World, organized by the American Enterprise Institute. His paper was entitled, “Dissent and Reform in Bahrain: Challenging Government Control of Media.”

Mr. Salman served as a senior editor of the Iraq Democracy Paper from 2004-05, in conjunction with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. During this period he also worked as a journalist for Voice of America, where he broadcasted internationally in Arabic.

Omran was managing assistant editor for Al-Jazeera in Doha, Qatar from 2000-03. He has also worked as a journalist and columnist for two of Bahrain’s most distinguished papers: Al-Ayam and Akhbar Al-Khaleej.

Mr. Salman will be available for interviews at the conclusion of his speaking engagement that evening, which will be held at Hosanna Christian Fellowship, 16705 Bellflower Blvd., Bellflower, California 90706.

Ambassadors For Peace is a non-profit organization that was co-founded after 9/11 by an American pastor and an Arab pastor who joined forces in a bid to stop the religious hatred that is causing so much destruction around the world.

As co-founders, Ameal Haddad and Garry Ansdell authored a Religious Rights Resolution with the belief that “everybody (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc.) has the right to share their faith without fear of reprisal and that anyone from any religion should be able to openly share their faith and convert if they so choose. That’s radical thinking for many and this Resolution says, ‘Let’s deal with the truth.’ The Resolution, which is like the Bill of Rights, talks about freedom of religion so that people from all faiths can talk openly without fear of reprisal,” said Garry Ansdell during an interview with Bruce Sonnenberg and Dan Wooding of ASSIST News Service.

One Response to “Religious Democracy Whose Time Has Come”

  1. Church Says:

In regards to the Ambassadors For Peace Resolution. Particularly Article XVII of the Resolution as it states:

We, therefore, assert that all people have a divine right to share what they know and to live at peace with the results.

What is this resolution saying? That the one true and Holy God gives people the right to drag others to hell with them by “sharing” their false religion & gods/idols with others? I am unable to find anywhere in God’s Word where it says that God has given anyone the RIGHT to preach anything but the truth!

In the old testament if someone introduced idols and false gods to the chosen of the Lord, they were killed, by commandment of God almighty. In the new testament we as the chosen via our faith in Jesus Christ are commanded to forsake those that are followers of false gods and idols and have nothing to do with them. We certainly shouldn’t be signing a declaration which states that we believe they have a “divine right” to preach their false gods to a dying and lost world.

    2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
And what accord (agreement/unity) has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

What does the Word of God say about people that teach false Doctrine?:

    Revelation 2:20-23
“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and beguile My servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
“And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. “Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. “And I will kill her children with death. And all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Consider the Word of God before signing such a Resolution. This Resolution does not agree with the Word of God.
