I Love Indrek Wichman!!!! (One More Voice of Truth/Weapon Against Islam)

July 21, 2006

Please note that I, Salib, have not written or contributed any of the following, I actually saw it on another blog. Please share this story or link with all of your Christian friends, for it seems as though we will need to help this Brother out at some not-so-distant time. Here you go, the full item:

——————————–

“Hooray for Michigan State University and Professor Wichman”

Well, what do we have here. Looks like a small case of some people being
able to dish it out, but not take it. Let’s start at the top. The story
begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named
Indrek Wichman. Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student’s
Association. The e-mail was in response to the students’ protest of the
Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The
group had complained the cartoons were “hate speech.”

Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following:

Dear Moslem Association:

As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest
your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things
like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings,
suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey!), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in
Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of
Scandinavian girls and women (called “whores” in your culture), the murder
of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.

This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many,
many, many of my colleagues. I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and
uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceeded
with your infantile “protests.” If you do not like the values of the
West — see the 1st Amendment — you are free to leave. I hope for God’s sake that
that most of you choose that option. Please return to your ancestral
homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

Cordially,

I. S. Wichman, Professor of Mechanical Engineering”

Well! As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn’t like
this too well. They’re demanding Wichman be reprimanded and mandatory
diversity training for faculty and a seminar on hate and discrimination
for freshman. How nice. But now the Michigan chapter of CAIR has jumped into
the fray. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently
doesn’t believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.
For its part, the university is standing its ground. They say the e-mail
was private, and they don’t intend to publicly condemn his remarks. That
will probably change. Wichman says he never intended the e-mail to be made
public and wouldn’t have used the same strong language if he’d known it
was going to get out.

How’s the left going to handle this one? If you’re in favor of the freedom
of speech, as in the case of Ward Churchill, will the same protections be
demanded for Indrek Wichman? I doubt it.

Hey folks, send this to everybody and ask them to do the same and tell
them to keep passing it around till the whole country gets it.
We are in a war.

  1. j Says:

YES! That is great read, thank you, it really sucks he has to go to that diversity training scam. What a crock of shit, the man speaks nothing but a few facts and thats what he gets for his years of being a professor? fucken a, poor guy.

I knew an Iranian kid, who lived in America in my town. I gotta say, you can take the shiitehead out of the middle east, but you can’t take the middle east of out the shiitehead.

The dude was a waste, spent his life doing drugs, feeling sorry for himself, and of course, eventually went completely crazy. So crazy, he spent his life wishing to murder me after I had stopped talking to him. Many times while I knew him, I told him he’s never going to be happy, and he should just kill himself. And to my surprise, about 2 months after I completely stopped talking to him, he hanged himself! No joke. Really happened.

But, it was kind of crazy after that. Thinking about how he was suicidal, I wondered…what stopped him from suicide bombing me and taking me with him?

  2. M R Says:

Yeah, J, he was crazy and killed himself because he was Muslim. That’s just brilliant. And what a great guy you must be to encourage a loser to kill himself…boy, I’m so proud knowing Americans like you have got my back. This kind of ignorance is embarassing and dangerous.

  3. edc Says:

The amusing thing about “j” is that he obviously thinks that he is somehow in a superior position to the “crazy Iranian kid.” At least, it would be amusing, if there were anything amusing about it. But the thought of “j” and the Iranian kid burning together in eternal flames is really not very funny.
And the thought of all those millions of muslims blindly, frantically, running, staggering in the dark toward that awful, flaming precipice..
Actually, j’s comment is so absurd that I can’t help but wonder if it isn’t actually his idea of a joke, but, either way, it goes to show that all people without a true and committed relationship with Christ are hopeless, foolish, sinful, and darkened, no matter what country they were born in.
To the Jew first, and also the Gentile.

  4. WALEG Says:

Your posts and the note you put on your blog home page won’t help creating peace on Earth … Your are just creating more hate between religions … peace can’t be created with such hate.

Besides i want to turn your attention that what Professor I. S. Wichman mentioned on his letter doesnt represent Islam … i can write you a never ending letter with christians crimes nowadays .. but those don’t represent christianity.

The people who do such acts ONLY represents themselves whether they are Muslims, Christians or Jews.

  5. edc Says:

    RE: WALEG Says
Having taken a look at waleg.com, I would have to say, without intending any offense, that Waleg is not really in a position of speaking credibly on the topic of religion.
I do not know Salib. I can see from his posts that he is a brother in Christ from Egypt, which would leave a lot of room for rather wide doctrinal disagreement. But I would like to make two observations.
    1. Being an Egyptian christian, Salib is most likely in a position to speak intimately about both Islam and Christianity, with first hand knowledge of both theory and practical result.
    2. There will never be peace on the earth until Messiah returns. Until that time there will always be bitterness, hatred, violence, and bloodshed,
and handsome con artists who take little old ladies retirement funds by pretending to love them. I doubt that Salib actually intends that his website would really bring about “peace on Earth,” as you consider it, but rather, that more peace is better than less peace (which is sometimes possible), but that Islam, as a “religion,” is actually the enemy of peace at all times and in all places.
To put it another way, Islam was born in blood, it was spread in blood, and everywhere on earth that it is in a position of primacy it is maintained in blood. It is not hateful to point out the fact that Muhammad was a murderous, philandering, pedophile, (who didn’t at all mind encouraging his followers to die for “Allah”) and that his writings reflect that fact. This is not at all on the same plane as pointing out that Christianity and Islam both have unbalanced persons who have committed atrocities. Rather, that Islam’s primary representative (Muhammad) just does not stack up against Christianity’s primary representative (Jesus), and further, although the worst examples of Islam compare favorably with Muhammad’s life and teachings, Christianity’s worst examples do not compare favorably with the life and teachings of the Christ.
There will never be peace with Islam. However, muslims who turn away from Muhammad and call upon the name of Jesus will have peace with God.
“..kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish on the way,
when His wrath is kindled but a little.”

  6. Hello Ahmed Salib!

Professor Wichman is a bigoted Islamophobic person. He should be charged for racism towards Arabs and Muslims. He was the same man who supported the Orthodox Csar of Russia, Vladimir Putin who is murdering Arab people in Chechnya.

If Orthodox Christians commit genocide against my brothers and sisters in Islam (called Muslim and Muslimah) in Yugoslavia during the Balkan Wars from 1991-2001 and in Russian occupied territory of Chechnya (which is like Palestine, Kashmir and Southern Thailand), then you cannot accept the Ummah to be happy! Get real will you.

This is why Egyptian Arabs retalitate and kill Copts and burn their churches.

I call all Christian Egyptians to oppose these unjust occupations of Arab land: –

    1. Arab Republic of Chechnya
    – occupied by Christian Russia

    2. Urdu-majority Indian Kashmir
    – occupied by Hindu India

    3. Malay-majority Southern Thailand
    – occupied by Buddhist Thailand

Also, do NOT forget that Christian Crusader regime in Washington invaded Islamic Afganistan in October 2001 and Islamic Iraq in March 2003.

This is why we, Muslims will retalitate and kill every Christian we can in suicide bombing. Already in Pakistan, churches are attacked because Christian America placed a puppet DICTATOR PERVEZ MUSHARAF. We want to get rid of him and let Islam have self-determination.

  7. Michael Says:

I wish that the Western World would drop a hydrogen bomb right on that stupid meteorite that all those ignorant Muslims walk around during the Haj. Make it ground zero, and let the Muslim world wonder why Allah didn’t lift a divine finger to stop it.

    BECAUSE THERE IS NO ALLAH!!!

Islam is a type of insanity.

    Just say NO! to Islam.

This is your brain = E=MC2

This is your brain on Islam = AllahMohammadJihadKillDeathMurderDestroyEnslaveMassacreButcherSlaughterRiotAllahMohammadJihadKillDeathMurderDestroyEnslaveMassacreButcherSlaughterRiotAllahMohammadJihad…

  8. edc Says:

OK, all you muslims, Michael is giving us an excellent example of the difference between an inhabitant of a “christian” nation, and a Follower of Christ.
Being a westerner, Michael obviously comes from culturally christian background. He almost certainly knows a bit about christian teachings, the Bible, Hell, and Jesus. But he has never met the Prince of Peace, The Prince of Life, The Righteous and Holy personification of the Love of God, Jesus the Messiah.
    How do I know?
    Because I DO know Him.
All peoples, male and female, eastern or western, muslim or “christian”, american or arab, buddhist, hindu, aborigine, american indian, eskimo or philipino are born lost, dying, sinful, and darkened, separated from God. Every one of them lives a sinful life of pride, continually hardening their hearts against the Light until the day they die and their prideful soul is condemned to Hell for rebellion against the Creator.
But when any of those people meet Jesus, their heart is stirred by the beauty, the holiness, the unbelievable cleanness that blinds their eyes like the brillance of the sun.
And, in that moment, if they choose to bow the knee to Jesus the Messiah, the very Son of God, and give their life to Him, He strips away the uncleanness, takes away their hardness of heart, and gives them the Spirit of God who leads them in a new life, giving them the heart of the Father so that they care about what He cares about.
The Father cares about people, and does not desire that even one should go to hell. The Son came to us from the Father through Isaac, but still deeply desires the salvation of Ishmael.
But Michael is just as lost as the muslims he wants vaporized.
Islam is no more a type of insanity than american materialism.

  9. u r a pure example of heatred Says:

i was just astonished when i read this article , i can’t claim that we(muslims) don’t hate western people especially americans but why don’t u ask your self why we hate you so much ,didn’t you think of your policy , bush’s policy who hate every muslim on earth why do we only have to accept your hatred and we can’t even hate you . for this bombing issue it never happened before the policy of not accepting muslims what do u want us to ? kill ourselves for only u could be pleased. by the way our islam never asks muslims to kill inconet people whatever their religion was and those who does that are not on the right way ,they are not even muslims when they do so.
& thank u for ur hatred

  10. a true muslim Says:

BUSH,AMERICA AND THE CHRISTIAN WORLRD ARE THE TRUE SAVAGE BARBARIC TERRRORISTS!!!supression against muslims and arabs has always been the unfair policy!!!we muslims also believe in jesus but these barbaric crusader christians carry on there savage terroristic rein on the world and lie to all to all others christians about jesus!!!and muslims are the only ones out of hindus, jews and buddists to stand up like men against these christians asses and pigs.we muslims spit on your faces but you are not even worth that!!!and as the bombings were considered it was wrong!!!we should drop nuclear bombs from the sky on these worthless asshole christians who have changed the true message of jesus christ!!!!all christians are TERRORISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. a true muslim Says:

AS FOR JIHAD ITS TO FIGHT IN WAR!!!SUICIDE BOMBINGS ARE WRONG!!!!!!MUSLIMS SHOULD DECLARE WAR ON FUCKING CHRISTIANS!!!LETS UNITE ALL MUSLIMS AND FIGHT AMERICA,DENMARK AND THE CHRISTIAN WORLD WHO OUT OF THEIR ARROGANCE COVER THE TRUE HOLY ISLAM BY LABELLING IT VIOLENT!!!!WHEN THEIR OWN BLOODY BIBLE IS FAKE AND MADE OVER A MILLION TIMES TO SUIT THE SAVAGE CHRISTIAN NEEDS!!!!

  12. feef Says:

I was doing a search on the web over this article and happened over this page. I will start by saying I was pretty disgusted at every one of these responses. I have no religion, I claim no god or higher power, maybe that’s why I might not have such strong views as everyone else here on the subject. However, since you all have found the urge to leave a response and voice an opinion, I felt compelled to do the same. All of you, Muslim, Christian, whatever, your lack of kindness and respect for your fellow man regardless of belief is ridiculous. You Christians are judging the Muslims which is apparently okay regardless of the fact that your “creator” says that he is the only one who can judge and you Muslims pretty much just want to take over the world and deplete the Christians. So with that, have fun killing yourselves idiots. I’ve got better things to do.

  13. Raquel Williams Says:

First Amendment rights here are irrelevant. Why?

My problem here is that the professor used his University-provided FACULTY e-mail to contact the assocation and PLAINLY identified himself by position and department at the university he works for.

If he wants to make sweeping stereotypical judgements against a global population on his own time, through his own email, while he’s representing HIMSELF, that’s fine –let him make an ass of himself as so many do. But he does NOT have the right to make himself the unofficial spokesperson of his department, his fellow faculty, and his university.

You can and will (whether you ought to or not), be responsible for what you say and do publicly, separate from your profession. In the age of internet, people think their words are falling into a black void of space, when in fact, they are NOT. You should always be aware that you ARE responsible for what you say AS WELL AS WRITE and be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions. The written word lives on, long after you, and can take on a life of its own.

You can, and should, be held accountable for what you say and do when it applies to your job. Just as corporations, company office spaces, and government networks monitor their workers e-mails and hold them accountable for what they say there, the same should apply to a university staff member. University e-mail is an extension of the university workplace. Universal First Amendment rights do not apply to the workplace as anyone who has EVER held a job ought to know.

If you have private opinions to express through private communication, do NOT use your work-provided e-mail account and identify yourself by position and location at your workplace (in the opening line and signature), and then proceed to address the e-mail to an ORGANIZATION in the body text. Good grief! Use your head. Is this an example of the best and brightest brainpower MSU has to offer? I sincerely hope not.

He deserves to be publicly crucified for his plain stupidity, if not for his ignorance.

  14. J B. Says:

Leave the guy alone. He said what he was thinking, and it’s been blown out of proportion. Opinions are still opinions, whatever email program you use. I guess this is an example of all the respondants expressing their opinions. For the record, I do agree with the professor.

  15. The Capitalist Says:

Raquel: Perhaps you should bone up on your constitutional law. While I don’t agree with his stereotyping of Muslims, the Professor is a public employee making political/religious statements outside the normal scope of his work. While he used his MSU email, that probably wouldn’t bring the email within the scope of his “duties”. And while he probably shouldn’t have used his email to show an affiliation with the University, he nevertheless does have first-amendment protections. WIth regard to your self-rightous attacks as to his “stupidity” and “ignorance”, you yourself seem to be ignoring the fact that several of his “generalizations” are in fact actual overt acts committed by a handful (please note the use of the term “handful”, so as not to make the irrational argument that I am grouping all followers of Islam in this statement) of fanatics; why do you not express any opinions on these atrocities? By all means the student organization has a right to protest the cartoons, however, just because you (and they) disagree with the statements of those with an opposing point of view doesn’t mean such opinions shouldn’t be afforded the same opportunity to be heard. I find it amusing that most people that are vocal about their opinions tend to piss and moan when someone with an opposing viewpoint speaks their mind.

  16. Art Says:

A study of history will show any one in their right mind how islam and the pedofile murding prophet treated people.

  17. Jared Says:

I greatly applaud Professor Wichman for writing the letter that he did. Even if he does have to take some kind of “diversity training”, it may not do anything. I know if I took a course like that, I’d still think the same. Come on, does anybody remember 9/11 and the laundry list of other Muslim-planned terrorist killings and attacks?

  18. talib Says:

I am with you feef. I am not religious. I think religion is for the weak. I don’t care about Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus, etc. I make my own faith. It is called “me”. To Raquel: Wichman has the right say whatever the hell he wants. Religiosity is for the nutballs who habe no perspective on life. Religious extremists are the most selfish I have ever met. Christians kill in the name of Jesus. Muslims in the name of Allah. Jews kill in the name of Zionism. And so on…Crusaders are crazy. Islamists are crazy and Zionists are crazy. With the help of the CIA the Muslim Brotherhood was born. The Muslim Brotherhood is responsible for practically every Islamist organization in the world. Somewhere in North Dakota is a place affectionately referred to as “Jesus Camp” where children are taught to fight in the name of Jesus. This is all pretty fucking crazy. All y’all mother fuckers are nuts. Religion must be abolished.

  19. Lil Says:

I’ve read Mr. Wichman’s email. I feel for him. I understand his feelings. What I don’t understand is, Why our government allows undocumented aliens the same rights we americian citizens have. Excuse me but I feel that is something that should be earned once your become a citizen. Too many people in this country that hate us, Why are you here? Go home please. Leave us alone. Religion never saved anyone. Look at your history. Thousands of years of killing, for what? For Ala? No happiness, no love, hunger, poverty and oppression. Ala doesn’t need man’s help. Your war’s only tell me that your faith in your Ala isn’t strong because you want to change the world in your time not his. – Ala has the power to do what ever he wants without your interference just like our God. You are taught to hate since birth. That is ashame. So much time wasted in hate. It’s your own personal belief system and when it becomes a cult we have a problem. Respect my beliefs and I’ll respect yours but don’t impose your belief on me. Prof. Wichman is obviously tired of what he has been witnessing and I’m right behind him. This country was built on freedoms and the blood shed of our citizens. Something the middle east has not clue of. You’re not citizens and therefore you should not be given the inalienable rights that we have here. Keep up the good work Professor, I’m proud that you had the courage to speak up. Thank you.

  20. jim Says:

Christianity is not about what you feel or what you think. Christianity comes from the historically writings called “The Bible”. The bible is God”s breathed word. Do not listen to those who profess Christianity because most of them do not know what they are talking about. Go to the source “the bible” and find out what Christianity is all about. Leave all your prejudices behind and read the Bible with an open heart and then you will know the truth about Christianity. Then you will know when someone is not speaking the truth about Christianity. Christianity has many professors who really have no idea what Christianity is all about! Find out for yourself so that you can be at peace with God.

  21. Yeah right Says:

Interesting that the whole fray was caused by Muslims IN THE U.S. about some “cartoon” in Denmark.

Also interesting that the Muslims want to make sure their rights are protected here for “free speech” as long as it suits their adgenda, but the minute someone else excercises their same right to free speech, the muslims piss and moan about it.

And why? because the opinion(s) didn’t agree with theirs. The professor was right; if you thinks it’s so bad here, then excercise the amendment to return to your country of origin.

Once there, build it up, create a substantial education network, thrive economically and then take over the world. Become your own super-power.

How long would a christian live in the Middle East if they organized a similar “protest?” Five minutes? Would they be killed and beheaded before they started or would some suicide bomber wait until there was a gathering to kill more?

  22. Dan Rowan Says:

Excuse me but I must add, after having spent numerous years working with moslems in the Middle East, that Islam is a culture that professes violent submission to all who are not moslems. Verified throughout history.

The anti moslem cartoons are a joke. Anyone who has studied Islamic history knows that Mohammed was both a pedifile and a pig fucker. Common knowledge.

In Saudia Arabia the idots built public toilets over mohammed’s birth place. Subliminal message.

  23. Mary T Says:

The Moslems are people who are brainwashed.
How many people think that praying 5 x every day isn’t brainwashing?
They are only puppets who have lost their opinions to their puppetmasters.
    Women as chattels????
You can beat your wife once a week, but any more is over the top. That Koran sounds like a fun fictiscious read.
Sounds like a great way to live.
So violent, yet the Puppetmasters must laugh at the chaos they have created, while they swill down their drink and bacon butties.
So why are they so wrong?
If you start with the premise that God is Love, then you are on the right track.
The lostsouls can’t even accept that the one true God doesn’t have a double, or a pork hating superior.
    What a screwed up mess.
Thank God I am not a part of these people with a fettish for doing all things evil, yet blaming their actions on someone else… like a spoiled brat would do.
Wise up you poor moslems… wake up and smell the coffee before the rest of the world shows you what real terror is.

  24. Mary T Says:

This is an article from last year.

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.

The treasurer, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament.

“If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you”, he said on national television.

“I’d be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can’t agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that’s a better option”, Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should “clear off.

Basically people who don’t want to be Australians, and who don’t want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off”, he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques.

Quote: “IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture.

Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.” “However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the ‘politically correct’ crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia.” “However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.”

“This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.”

“This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.”

“We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!”

“Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.

It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.”

“We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.”

“If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don’t like “A Fair Go”, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don’t care how you did things where you came from.

By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. “This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.”

“If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.”

I am offended by the following.

The girl who was stoned to death for falling in love

A teenage girl lies dead on the ground in a pool of her own blood.
Her once groomed hair is cast across her face like a rag doll’s, her skirt pulled up to complete her humiliation.
In another image, she is seen lying on her side, her face battered and bloodied, barely recognisable.
The concrete block used to smash in her face lies next to her.
Du’a Khalil Aswad was beaten, kicked and stoned for 30 minutes at the hands of a lynch mob before one of her attackers launched a carefully aimed fatal blow.
Du’a Khalil Aswad: Killed by a lynch mob for falling in love
The murder was carried out in public, watched by hundreds of men cheering and yelling. Du’a’s crime? To fall in love with a Sunni boy. Her family practised the Yezidi religion.
The Sunnis and Yezidis hate each other. When Du’a ran away with her Sunni boyfriend, a sentence of death was passed on her.
This act of medieval savagery took place last month in a town in northern Iraq, in the fledgling ‘democracy’ created by Bush and Blair when they invaded the country in 2003 and ‘freed’ its people.
Brutal images captured by onlookers or the barbaric stoning
The sickening scenes, which defy belief in every sense, were captured by some of the observers and participants who thought it would be proper to record these harrowing events as some sort of memento.
Perhaps they thought it would serve as a warning to other young people who dared to follow their hearts – not the strictures of a religion which will not brook dissent – and punishes adolescent impetuosity with the most brutal of public murders.
The killing was filmed on a number of mobile phones. The images were then – all too predictably – posted on the internet.
The Mail takes no pleasure in publishing these pictures. But we believe our readers should witness the depths of the depravity still being carried out in the 21st century in the name of ‘honour’.
Perhaps, then, something can be done to prevent it happening again.
Of course, anyone who takes even a passing interest in news is all too aware of the tragedy that has engulfed the people of Iraq: the daily bombings, murders and kidnappings.
The subjugation of its women, however, has been largely ignored. Yet according to cultural observers, the number of so-called ‘honour killings’ has increased in Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein.
Campaigners say there is an ‘epidemic’ of such killings in the wartorn country. Autopsy reports in Baghdad often conclude with the verdict: “Killed to wash away her disgrace.”
The filming of Du’a’s death was just one more macabre element of her killing, but it has achieved something those bloodthirsty amateur filmmakers could not have predicted: it has brought such practices into the open and exposed them to the wider world.
It is, of course, too late for Du’a, a strikingly pretty young girl with long auburn hair. The 17-year-old must have hoped that the ‘liberation’ of her country would afford her opportunities she might otherwise never have had – for her education and a life of happiness free from oppression.
She lived with her family in the town of Bashika, near Mosul. They were neither rich nor poor.
It is believed Du’a met her Sunni boyfriend – whose name is not known – several months ago. They had grown up in an environment where hatred against rival factions is the norm.
The Yezidis – a Gnostic sect which combines Islamic teachings with Persian religions – despise the Sunnis; the Sunnis loathe the Yezidis.
Du’a and her boyfriend would have been all too aware that theirs was a forbidden love. But like so many teenagers before them, right back to the illicit love of Romeo and Juliet, they couldn’t help themselves.
For a while, they met in secret. It was during one such highly charged meeting that they came up with a plan to run away together.
It is not clear whether this desperate measure was a result of their having sought and been refused permission to marry, or if they decided to do it knowing that such permission would never be obtained.
“Her family would never have agreed to such a marriage,” says Diana Nammi, a leading Kurdish women’s rights campaigner.
Some Muslim groups have claimed that Du’a converted to Islam shortly before her murder. According to other reports, her boyfriend denies this.
They ran away together to an address in Bashika. The girl’s family alerted the police and Du’a and her boyfriend were found just a few days later.
According to Ms Nammi, who is calling for the girl’s killers to be brought to justice, Du’a was arrested and put into prison.
A few days later, the police apparently received assurances from the leader of her tribe – who Ms Nammi believes is Du’a’s uncle – that the girl would not be harmed.
What happened next is the subject of conflicting reports. According to some, the house of the tribal leader was stormed by a mob and Du’a dragged out and killed.
Ms Nammi, however, says she has information that it was the tribal leader who betrayed his niece to the mob. In this man’s eyes, Du’a had committed an unforgiveable crime, punishable by death.
The family’s ‘honour’ had been besmirched. The moment Du’a was placed in his house, her fate was sealed.
On April 7, Du’a was brought out of the house in a headlock to face the lynch mob. Hundreds of men were waiting for her – the excited atmosphere is said to have resembled a large sporting event – but no women.
On the video, Du’a’s screams can be heard as she is dragged to the ground. In a further humiliation, her lower body has been stripped.
Instinctively, Du’a tries to cover herself; only later was a piece of clothing thrown over her.
She is surrounded by an enormous crowd jockeying for a good view of the ritualistic killing. About nine men take part in the attack, including, it is thought, members of the girl’s family.
To any father of a daughter, that a helpless girl should be set upon with such cowardly savagery is beyond comprehension. One can barely imagine her terror.
It is a profoundly disturbing spectacle. One man kicks her hard between the legs as she screams in agony. Du’a tries to lift herself up, but someone hurls a concrete block into her face.
Another man stamps on her face. Someone kicks her in the stomach. Police officers stand idly by, some of them apparently enjoying the spectacle as much as anyone else.
Meanwhile, some observers film the execution on their mobile phones – the modern world intruding on a spectacle that belongs more in the Roman arena than in an apparently civilised society.
After half an hour of this savagery, Du’a is finally – mercifully, perhaps – dead. In a final humiliation, a man tries to lift her up, but drops her again, and her bloodied body is rolled face down into a puddle of blood. The family has had its ‘honour’ restored.
According to Ms Nammi, Du’a’s parents did not want her to be stoned, though it is not clear whether they might have agreed for her to be killed in some other way.
After her murder, according to Ms Nammi, two men were arrested by Iraqi police, but she has heard they were subsequently released without charge.
Reports suggest that two of Du’a’s uncles and four other people fled the town as investigators began to search for the culprits. It is thought these included her brother, who appeared in the video of the murder.
As for Du’a’s boyfriend – who has lost the girl he loved in the most awful circumstances imaginable – he went into hiding for a while, but it is believed that no action has been taken against him.
Du’a was buried in a simple unmarked grave. Later, says Ms Nammi, her body was exhumed by the Kurdish authorities, who have autonomous control of the region, and sent to the Medico-legal Institute in Mosul.
There her body was examined to find out whether she had been a virgin or not, before being returned to the Sheikh Shams cemetery.
To our Western eyes, this posthumous assault on Du’a’s body is the final insult. But according to Ms Nammi, it did at least establish that she was still a virgin and innocent of the ‘crime’ of which she had been accused.
However, Ms Nammi believes the mere fact that Du’a had run off with a Sunni boy would have been enough to have her sentenced to death.
Meanwhile, the cycle of tit-for-tat murders continues in Iraq. In this instance, in an apparent act of retaliation for Du’a’s murder, 23 Yezidi workers were attacked and killed two weeks later, apparently by members of an armed Sunni group.
The men were travelling on a bus between Mosul and Bashika when their vehicle was halted by the gunmen, who made them disembark before killing them.
Tomorrow evening, Ms Nammi, founding member of the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation, will lead a group of women meeting in Shoreditch, East London, to remember Du’a Khalil Aswad and give back to her the dignity torn from her by her violent death.
The women are pledged to campaign against the entrenched beliefs which lead to such senseless deaths – and the fact that the people who commit these crimes are not regarded as murderers, but as heroes of the community.
According to Ms Nammi, there have been an estimated 10,000 cases of honour killings in the Kurdistan region in the past decade.
Under Iraqi law, the punishment for anyone found guilty of an honour killing is just six months in prison.
“Something has to be done to stop this,” says Ms Nammi, who came to Britain in 1996. “There is an epidemic of so-called honour killings. It is almost routine and utterly unacceptable.
“We would greatly appreciate any contribution from the British Government in preventing these murders of women in Iraq.”
Ms Nammi has the support of Amnesty International.
“This young girl’s murder is truly abhorrent and her killers must be brought to justice,” says Kate Allen, Amnesty International UK Director.
“Unless the authorities respond vigorously to this and other reports of crimes in the name of “honour”, we must fear for the future of the women in Iraq.”
For the sake of 17-year-old Du’a, an innocent girl who simply fell in love with the wrong man, it is all too little, too late.

    This too.

    Iran Focus

On Sunday, August 15, a 16-year-old girl in the town of Neka, northern Iran, was executed. Ateqeh Sahaleh was hanged in public on Simetry Street off Rah Ahan Street at the city center.

The sentence was issued by the head of Neka’s Justice Department and subsequently upheld by the mullahs’ Supreme Court and carried out with the approval of Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Shahroudi.

In her summary trial, the teenage victim did not have any lawyer and efforts by her family to recruit a lawyer was to no avail. Ateqeh personally defended herself. She told the religious judge, Haji Rezaii, that he should punish the main perpetrators of moral corruption not the victims.

The judge personally pursued Ateqeh’s death sentence, beyond all normal procedures and finally gained the approval of the Supreme Court. After her execution Rezai said her punishment was not execution but he had her executed for her “sharp tongue”.

Would anyone say that these were fair and democratic people?

  25. Gordon Says:

Professor Wichman’s e-mail did recited facts about Muslims and described incidents of violence. Facts are facts, not opinions. Muslim opposition to this statement of facts is to attack the writer (ad hominem), but at no time do Muslims contradict the factual statement. Truth cannot be contradicted.
If you want to know why Muslims are violent, read the Koran. You will see that over and over the reader is encouraged to kill, maim, lie in wait, to beat women. Allah is described as one who deceives and deights in deceiving so that the person deceived will suffer a horrible punishment! What kind of god is that?
The Bible, especially Old Testament, is a collection of writings which describe what people did, those who obeyed God and those who did not. God’s commands are chronicled as given to specific people at a specific time. No where in the entire Bible does it command the reader to kill everyone who does not believe as a Jew or as a Christian!
Please, read the Koran. It is very, very difficult to read. Very difficult. It doesn’t make sense in many places (evidence to Muslims of its divine origin). The Christian or Jew may plead with the world to read the Koran in order to discern its violent, intolerant, vicious character. Muslims will not ask anyone to read the Bible. Truth is its own authority, its own defender, its own judge and needs help from no person to bomb, kill, and assassinate anyone who does not believe truth.

Everything we read and write today has to somehow be “politically correct”. I think Wichman was being truthful in the sense that so many minorities have this underlying bitterness towards Western culture.

When any person comes to America from a different country, you came here knowing that you would have a better life. Having had my family come from former USSR.. I know that we would much rather have to deal with potential racism than getting killed.

Minority groups seem to be expecting to be treated even better than the majority. We’re all equal. Just because your skin is a different colour doesn’t mean that you deserve to be treated like royalty.. same goes for white people as well.. no one is superior to one another.

If you don’t like life in America, then feel free to leave. The reason people immigrate to America is for a better life; I’m certain you have a better life here than you would in an undeveloped country.

If the overwhelming number of moslems weren’t so ignorant and dangerous, they would only be stupid.
Message to moslems: Instead of trying to beat us over the head telling us how peaceful and wonderful you all are, we don’t you try to ” walk the walk”. Actions speak louder than words. Unfortunately we all know the answer: mohamed, the perfect man and model to all moslems was in fact, a mass murderer,vandal,looter,slaver,rapist,con-man,liar, cheater and just an all around nasty chap.(M.P.B.U.H) MAY a PAIR of sexually active PORCUPINES BE PERPETUALLY UPON HIM !!!!

Hi Salib, I agree with what Prof Wichman has written and I am disappointed that he says he regrets making his email statement. I agree, militant Islam needs to be annihilated.

  32. Bailey Hankins Says:

I notice that the Muzzie retards responding here don’t seem to gibber and squeak with rage and demand apologies when Islamofascist fuckheads call for the death of every human being in America. Not only do they call for it, but they carry it out. They cut off our heads if they get a change.

But oh, boo hoo hoo! Their “feelings” are hurt!!! Oh no, a professor pointed out that they can always get the fuck out if they don’t like this country!

When the days comes, they will find out that Americans are not as soft as they think. We aren’t all liberal academics living a soft life in the city. Watch your step.
